Use Autoxy from Cursor, Claude, Codex, or Grok

A personal token signs the assistant in as you. It can configure campaigns and read analytics. You still publish replies from the Chrome extension on x.com.

What you can do

MCP is a connection between Autoxy and an AI app. It works in Cursor, Claude, Codex (the ChatGPT coding app), and Grok Build. After you connect, you talk normally. The assistant calls Autoxy for you.

  • See who you are, your plan, and your X accounts.
  • List, create, edit, start, pause, archive, and delete campaigns.
  • Attach target lists, a tone of voice, a schedule, and image replies.
  • Read followers, reply views, posted replies, and activity.

The assistant does not open x.com and does not click Reply or Post. Text, image, and clip replies stay in the Chrome extension.

Who can change what

The token follows your current role in the organization. If someone changes your role, the next call uses the new permissions. Billing, invites, and member roles stay in the dashboard.

Owner and admin

Change campaigns, lists, tone profiles, and AI models. Read every account in the organization.

Operator

Read campaigns, plus analytics for X accounts assigned to you. Cannot create or edit campaigns.

Not signed in

No access. A missing or revoked token is rejected.

1. Create a token

1. Create a token

autoxy.ai/settings?tab=mcp

ProfileNotificationsMCP

MCP access

The token uses your role. Owners and admins can change campaigns. Operators can read assigned accounts and analytics.

Server URL

New token name

Cursor
Create token

Copy this token now. It will not be shown again.

axmcp_example_token_copy_once
  1. Sign in to the same Autoxy account you want the assistant to use.
  2. Open Settings, then MCP.
  3. Name the token after the app, for example Cursor, Codex, or Grok.
  4. Click Create token and copy the value. Autoxy shows it once.
  5. Leave the page only after the token is stored in the app config below.

Server URL, also shown on that page: http://autoxy.test/api/mcp

You can keep up to 10 active tokens. Revoke one from the same page when you stop using an app. Revoke takes effect immediately.

2. Connect Cursor

2. Add the server in Cursor

Cursor Settings, MCP

autoxy

http://autoxy.test/api/mcp

Enabled

Paste the token from Settings into the Authorization header. Do not send the token in chat.

  1. In Cursor, open Settings, then MCP.
  2. Add a server, or edit the MCP config file.
  3. Paste the block below. Replace the bearer value with your token.
  4. Enable the autoxy server and start a new chat.

Project config lives in .cursor/mcp.json inside the repo. A personal config is in Cursor Settings and applies to every project. Official steps: Cursor MCP.

Cursor mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "autoxy": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "http://autoxy.test/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer axmcp_paste_your_token"
      }
    }
  }
}

3. Connect Claude

Claude Desktop and Claude Code use the same URL and token. In Claude Desktop, open Settings, Developer, Edit Config, and add an autoxy entry with type http, the server URL, and the Authorization header. Then restart Claude.

The config shape matches the Cursor block above. Protocol reference: modelcontextprotocol.io.

4. Connect Codex and ChatGPT

Codex, including Codex inside ChatGPT, connects with the same server URL. Put the token in an environment variable. Codex rejects a token pasted straight into the config file.

  1. In a terminal, export AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN to the token you copied. The app that launches Codex has to see that variable.
  2. Add the server with the command below, or paste the TOML into ~/.codex/config.toml.
  3. Start a new Codex thread and ask who you are in Autoxy.

The ChatGPT website connector is a separate sign-in. It does not accept this personal token. Use Codex when you want ChatGPT to configure Autoxy. Config reference: Codex configuration.

Add Autoxy in Codex

export AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN="axmcp_paste_your_token"
codex mcp add autoxy --url http://autoxy.test/api/mcp --bearer-token-env-var AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN

~/.codex/config.toml

[mcp_servers.autoxy]
url = "http://autoxy.test/api/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN"

5. Connect Grok

Grok Build, the Grok command line, uses the same URL and token. It can also pick up an Autoxy server you already saved in .cursor/mcp.json.

  1. Export AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN in the terminal where you run Grok.
  2. Add the server with the command below, or paste the TOML into ~/.grok/config.toml.
  3. Run grok and ask who you are in Autoxy.

grok.com connectors expect their own sign-in. Autoxy does not offer that sign-in, so the website connector will not take this token. Use Grok Build, or pass the token as authorization on the xAI remote MCP API. In Cursor you can also keep the Autoxy server and choose a Grok model for the chat.

Add Autoxy in Grok

export AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN="axmcp_paste_your_token"
grok mcp add --transport http autoxy http://autoxy.test/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ${AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN}"

~/.grok/config.toml

[mcp_servers.autoxy]
url = "http://autoxy.test/api/mcp"
headers = { Authorization = "Bearer ${AUTOXY_MCP_TOKEN}" }

6. Ask for something

3. Ask in plain language

You

Who am I in Autoxy, and which campaigns are active?

Assistant

You are Bartek, owner of Fern. Three campaigns are active: Mini app founders, Community operators, and Trading schools. Say if you want one paused.

Start with a read, then ask for a change. Useful first messages:

  • Who am I in Autoxy, and which X accounts can I see?
  • List active campaigns, their accounts, and their daily caps.
  • Show follower change and the top replies for the last 14 days.
  • Pause the campaign named Trading schools.
  • Draft a manual campaign for @Eterna_Hybrid for the next 7 days, show it to me, and create it only after I agree.

There is also a prompt named autoxy_campaign_brief. Give it a goal. The assistant lists accounts, lists, tones, and campaigns before it proposes a setup.

Dates the assistant sends must include a timezone, for example 2026-12-01T08:00:00.000Z. An assignment needs a person who is already linked to that X account. Say allUsers when everyone on the account should run the campaign.

Campaign fields match the campaign guide: meta prompt, target lists, tone of voice, and optional image replies. Account handles are explained in X accounts.

Tools

You do not need to name these. They are what the assistant calls. Write access is limited to owners and admins.

    Recent posted replies with views, likes, and medium.

  • autoxy_activity

    Everyone

    Recent extension activity: posted replies, auto replies, rate limits, and follows.

If it does not connect

  • The header must be exactly Bearer, a space, then the token.
  • A revoked token or a typo returns unauthorized. Create a new token and replace it.
  • Operators who ask to edit a campaign get a permissions error. That is expected.
  • Reload MCP servers in the app after you paste the config. In Cursor, toggle the autoxy server off and on.
  • Publishing still happens in the extension. Install it from the download page if Reply is what you need next.
